U23 Preview: Young Lads head to Wolves

Sunderland Under-23s continue their Premier League 2 campaign on Monday evening, facing Wolverhampton Wanderers at Aggborough (KO 6pm).

The young Lads will look to respond to last Monday’s 3-1 defeat by Middlesbrough at the Academy of Light – a game in which chances came and went.

Wolves overcame Fulham with a 2-1 win on Monday, lifting them to fourth in the PL2 Division 2 whilst the Lads will look to move clear of their current 12th-placed berth.

With regards to the players Elliott Dickman has at his disposal, U23 squad goalkeepers Jack McIntyre and Jacob Carney will be vying for a place, whilst Denver Hume could feature as he returns to full sharpness.

Sam Wilding is a doubt after missing the Boro match with a hip issue, which could again see Stephen Wearne captaining the side. Ellis Taylor could return after missing Middlesbrough due to his involvement in the first-team squad in the Carabao Cup.

Whilst the Lads sit seven points behind their opponents heading into the fixture, they have in fact scored 10 goals to Wolves’ six – scuppered by 14 conceded so far.

The match will be streamed live on Wolves' official YouTube channel, and social media coverage will take place via our official Twitter, @SunderlandAFC.
