New arrival: Will Harris joins Under-23s

Sunderland AFC are pleased to confirm the signing of Will Harris to link up with Elliott Dickman’s Under-23 squad.

The 19-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a one-year deal on Wearside after leaving Premier League outfit Burnley last month.

South Shields born Harris joins the Lads after three years with the Clarets, which included loan spells with Northern Premier League sides Colne FC and Warrington Town.

He becomes the Under-23s’ fifth signing of the summer after Bobby Beaumont, Sam Wilding, Vinnie Steels and Kenton Richardson.

Following his arrival on Wearside, Harris said: “Being a local lad, it’s a dream come true to sign a contract with Sunderland. I’m delighted to be here, and I can’t wait to get started.”

Under-23 head coach Elliott Dickman added: “We’re really pleased to get this deal done. We had Will on trial before lockdown and we liked what we saw. He has attributes that should really benefit us this season and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
