Sunderland under-18s’ wait for their first Premier League win went on as Derby County claimed the points at the Academy of Light on Saturday.
Jack Stretton scored a brace, with his first coming shortly before the half-hour mark when he headed home a cross from the left.
The visitors then had to wait ‘til the second period to double their advantage – Archie Brown this time the man who delivered as his thunderous effort slipped through Jack Newman’s grasp.
Stretton secured his double 20 minutes from time, slotting home a penalty to wrap up the win and move Derby into sixth with 12 points from eight games.
