Jacob Young has completed a move to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
The 19-year-old Australian-born central defender, who joined Sunderland in 2016, has signed permanently for Alfred Schreuder’s Bundesliga side.
Sunderland AFC’s academy manager, Paul Reid, said: “We were made aware of Hoffenheim’s interest in Jacob a while back. After a conversation with the player, we agreed his future would be best suited at the German club.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Jacob for his time at Sunderland AFC and wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
Young will join TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on July 1.
