U23 match preview: All you need to know ahead of tonight's PL2 fixture

Sunderland under-23s are back in action on home turf tonight as they take on Fulham in the Premier League 2.

Welcoming the West London club to Eppleton Colliery Welfare for a 7pm kick-off, season card holders can gain free entry to the fixture on production of their valid 2019-20 ticket.

Entry for non-season card holders is £3 for adults and £1 for over-65s and under-16s.

HOME BENCH

Elliott Dickman’s side go into the match on the back of a battling 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough last Sunday. With this their last home game and penultimate fixture of the season, Sunderland have secured back-to-back draws in their last two league matches after being held at home to Manchester United in March. The young Black Cats have lost just two of their last five matches but remain at the foot of the league table with just six points left to play for.

VIEW FROM THE OPP

Tonight’s opposition, Fulham, sit just one place above Sunderland in the Premier League 2 standings. While the Cottagers have lost four of their last five domestic games, they did manage to get the better of the Black Cats in the reverse fixture in November. That night, goals from Jayden John-Lloyd Harris and Moritz Jenz inside the first 17 minutes proved to be enough to secure victory. Since then, though, Fulham are without a win in the league since January when they got the better of Manchester United 3-1.
