U18 report: Injury-time strike earns Youth Team dramatic point at Man Utd

Manchester United U18 3-3 Sunderland U18

Ryan Gooch scored in the 98th minute to earn Sunderland a dramatic point at Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Sean Kennedy had put the Black Cats in front after just eight minutes, but three Manchester United goals put the hosts in full control at Carrington.

Dion McGhee scored a brace, with his second coming on the hour mark, after Largie Ramazani had also chalked his name onto the scoresheet in between midfielder’s effort.

But Sunderland refused to lie down and pulled one back in the 79th minute, when Ryan Wonbelle converted Foster’s assist to set-up a grandstand finish.

And it wasn’t ‘til the last kick of the game when the Black Cats completed a miraculous recovery - Gooch turned the ball past the United stopper deep, deep into the injury time to send the Lads in mass celebrations as they earned a share of the spoils..

Next up for Sunderland under-18s is a trip to Everton next Saturday, kick-off 12:30pm.
