U18: Bryson on Potters test

Paul Bryson has challenged his players to round off a hard season tomorrow with a positive result against Stoke City.

Sunderland under-18s will complete their Premier League campaign at the Academy of Light on Saturday, knowing a win could see them move off the bottom.

A slender defeat against Manchester City last time out left a sour taste in Bryson’s mouth as the Black Cats led with just seven minutes left on the clock.

However, a resurgent City fought back and turned the fixture on it’s head with two late goals to seal a dramatic win.

With just one game left now, the under-18s has called for his players to dust themselves down and give everything to try and finish the season on a strong note.

“We are looking for another performance like the one we got at Manchester City last weekend,” he said.

“We would like to end the season on a bit of a high note because it’s been a really difficult season for everyone.

“There’s more than one reason for that but on the plus side it has been great for the younger lads because they’ve had the chance to step up and learn what it’s about.

“When they come in full time next season it will benefit them.

“We played well at Stoke City earlier in the season so hopefully we can replicate that again and like I say, end the season on a high note.”
