U23 Report: Lads lose out at Reading

Reading U23 4-1 Sunderland U23

Sunderland under-23s experienced another afternoon to forget as Reading came out on top in the Premier League 2 meeting at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday.

The Royals fought their way into a 2-0 goal lead inside 20 minutes as Josh Barrett and Gabriel Osho found the back of the net.

Elliott Dickman rung the changes at the break, replacing Jack Bainbridge and Jacob Young for Benji Kimpioka and Owen Gamble in an attempt to spark a comeback.

But it never materialised as Ben House struck shortly after the hour mark before Osho netted his second in stoppage time to restore Reading’s three-goal cushion following Luke Molyneux’s on 70 minutes.

The result leaves Dickman’s development squad bottom of the Premier League 2 table following three straight defeats.
