England U20: Embleton dreaming of Toulon success

Elliot Embleton is targeting international glory with England under-20s at this summer’s Toulon Tournament.

It was a year ago to the day that the young Lions were crowned champions with fellow Black Cat stars Jordan Pickford and Duncan Watmore shining in France.

Victory over the French in the final saw England lift the Toulon trophy for the first time in 22 years, and now Embleton, who is hopeful of making his inaugural under-20s bow against Angola this evening, has set his sights on further international glory.

“I’m very happy to be selected for such a big tournament,” he smiled.

“I’m looking to get experience from the tournament and hopefully end the season on a high note and win it.

“It is a high standard environment, that’s what comes with international football, obviously those two (Pickford and Watmore) play Premier League football.”

He continued: “Some of the best players in the game have played in this tournament, the likes of (Zinedine) Zindane and (Cristiano) Ronaldo so again that just shows the standard of the competition.

“I have never played at under-20 level for England so it will be a new test but hopefully a test I will be able to handle.”
