Premier League 2: Dickman looks to crown season with a win

Elliott Dickman has only one thought in his mind ahead of tonight’s match at Reading, and that is simply to win.

Sunderland under-23s head to the Madejski Stadium looking to round off their Premier League 2 campaign with back-to-back victories, a feat the Lads haven’t managed since November in all competitions.

A character-fuelled display over Arsenal last time out secured a valuable three points, and now Dickman is keen to build some momentum ahead of their International Cup final against FC Porto.

Speaking to safc.com, the under-23s chief called for his players to pick up where they left off against the Gunners, insisting all preparations are geared towards victory.

“We want to finish our league season on a high note,” he stated.

“We were pleased with our performance against Arsenal in our last game and training has been good since that match.

“We are focused on what we are about and looking at ways we can try to cause Reading some trouble.

“We will be working as hard as we can and if we can come out of it with a win then that will be terrific because it would be nice to end our league campaign on a high.”

He continued: “The fact that we came from behind in our last match was really pleasing.

“Taking that into the Reading game now we want to make it difficult for them and we have to play and hopefully get through the game with a win.”
