U18s: Kimpioka gunning for three points

Ben Kimpioka is targeting three points when Sunderland under-18s head to Leicester City this Saturday.

No game last weekend presented the youth team with a chance to take stock of what has been a challenging March with back-to-back defeats.

While performances have been pleasing on the eye, results have continued to go against Mark Atkinson’s young guns following defeats to Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, chances have been aplenty in each of the fixtures leading Swedish youngster Kimpioka to believe three points are just around the corner.

“We deserve so much more than we have achieved this season,” he said.

“Our performances have been good but we have been punished for not taking our chances.

“That has to change against Leicester City because we want to end the season well.

“We have five games left and in those games it is important we score goals.

“After every game we always say it doesn’t matter how we play, it matters how many goals we have scored,” he continued.

“Hopefully we can end the season on a high.”
