Toulon Tournament: Embleton strike helps England reach final

England U20 3-0 Scotland U20

Elliot Embleton was on hand to double England’s lead over Scotland as the Young Lions reached the final of the U20 Toulon Tournament yesterday.

The Black Cats midfielder played a key role in the comprehensive 3-0 victory, calmly slotting home left-footed from 10 yards after exchanging passing inside the area.

Embleton’s first strike of the tournament came in between a brace from Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes, either side of half-time, which secured England’s place in Saturday’s final.

It was a historic day for England’s youth teams overall, as the other under-20s side reached the World Cup final earlier in the day with a 3-1 win over Italy.

But for the Toulon Tournament holders, preparations now swiftly turn to Saturday’s final against Ivory Coast.
