Guide to Sunderland under-18s’ Wear-Tyne derby clash in the FA Youth Cup this week.
Date: Wednesday 25 January 2017
Time: 7pm
Location: Eppleton Colliery Welfare
Competition: U18 Premier League
Sunderland: WDWWLL
Elliott Dickman has highlighted the importance of a response as the youth team look to bury the disappointment of Saturday’s 5-1 defeat against Middlesbrough.
With this the third FA Youth Cup match against the Magpies in the last four seasons, the Black Cats will be hoping it will be third time lucky, having lost the previous two, when their Tyneside rivals visit Hetton-le-Hole.
Newcastle United: WWWLL
The Magpies head into Wednesday’s match in a similar vein of form as the Black Cats.
Having lost their previous two matches, improvements will be required from both sides as they bid to make it into the last eight of the historic youth competition.
The Last five...

Focus: Lee Connelly
With a goal in both rounds of the FA Youth Cup so far against Burton Albion and Shrewsbury contributing to nine goals in just 13 starts for the under-18s, Lee Connelly will be vital once again. The nippy Scotsman is prolific inside the area if given a sniff and will need to have hit shooting boots on this on Wednesday.
Tickets
Entry to the game is priced at £3 for adults and just £1 for supporters over 65 and under 16. Turnstiles will open from 6pm on the night.
