International duty: Embleton receives England U19s nod

Elliot Embleton has been named in the England under-19s squad for their upcoming double-header against Poland and Germany.

The Sunderland midfielder, who was part of the Three Lions’ triumph in Toulon during the summer, has been named in Paul Simpson’s 23-man squad.

Embleton was an unused substitute in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup second round win at Carlisle United, and following the conclusion of this weekend’s domestic matches the 18-year-old will depart for international duty.

England will start off with Poland on Friday 1 September at St George’s Park before entertaining Germany four days later at Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium.
