On the ball: Cats prepare for Baggies trip

All you need to know about Sunderland under-18s’ trip to the West Midlands this weekend.

Date: Saturday 22 April 2017

Time: 11am

Location: WBA Training Ground

Competition: U18 Premier League

Sunderland: WLLDW

Victory over Swansea City last time out saw the young Black Cats notch their first league win in three matches.

It also meant the Lads had secured four precious points in two games, seeing them move off the foot of the U18 Premier League table after back-to-back defeats.

Performances have been pleasing on the eye from Mark Atkinson’s troops, and more of the same is a must in their remaining three fixtures. Ha’way the Lads.

West Bromwich Albion: LLWLD

One win in their last five matches have left West Bromwich Albion languishing a point above Brighton & Hove Albion at the foot of the table.

Three defeats in that span of games also, have seen the Baggies collect just four points from a possible 15.

But there’s light at the end of the tunnel for the Black Country club, as victory on Wearside could see them leapfrog the Black Cats and move up to as high as third.

Focus: Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka

With five goals in his debut season in English football. Kimpioka has enjoyed an opening campaign filled with mixed emotions. Second highest topscorer in the youth team this term, Kimpioka has popped up with some valuable goals and will be relishing sinking his teeth into his final year as a scholar.
