West Bromwich Albion U18: D-D-W-L

The Baggies host Sunderland this weekend keen to build on their solid start to the new campaign.

Back-to-back draws against Manchester City and Newcastle United saw West Brom put firm foundations in place for a good season before victory at home to Derby County in their next match added further weight to their positive start.

However, a 5-3 defeat at Manchester United last time out brought an end to that strong start and saw them slip to ninth after four games.

Sunderland: L-L-L-L

Elliott Dickman’s side remain pointless after four games despite producing a number of spirited performances in their quest to climb the table.

A battling display at Wolverhampton Wanderers couldn’t prevent them losing 5-2 on the opening day before further defeats against Stoke City, Middlesbrough and Newcastle United followed.

The Last five...

Apr 16 2016 – West Bromwich Albion U18 1-4 Sunderland U18
Jan 9 2016 – Sunderland U18 5-2 West Bromwich Albion U18
Oct 3 2015 – West Bromwich Albion U18 0-3 Sunderland U18
Apr 5 2014 – West Bromwich Albion U18 1-2 Sunderland U18
Mar 19 2013 – West Bromwich Albion U18 0-2 Sunderland U18

Focus: Lee Connelly

The young Scotsman returned from injury last Saturday against Newcastle United and produced a tireless display up front. Following his summer move from Scottish club Queen’s Park, Connelly hit the ground running in pre-season and bagged 10 goals in five games before missing the start of the U18 Premier League with an injury. Connelly will now be hoping to reproduce that kind of form as the Black Cats vie to climb the table.
