U18s:
Mbunga-Kimpioka post West Brom

Benjamin Mbunga-Kimpioka has insisted Sunderland under-18s must be more ruthless in their play.

The young Black Cats produced a vibrant first-half display at West Bromwich Albion last Saturday, but failed to convert one of their chances as Adam Bale saw his penalty saved before Jack Diamond had his goal chalked off for offside.

Albion were much improved after the break and punished Sunderland as they struck twice to inflict another defeat on Elliott Dickman’s side.

The result means the youth team’s wait for their first points in the U18 Premier League this season continues, but Mbunga-Kimpioka has admitted his team-mates – himself included – must use the ball better and be more clinical in the final third.

“There were some positives in the game because we had a good first half,” he said.

“We played well in attack and defence and I think we were a bit unlucky in the end.

“Teams we have played against so far this season have taken their chances and been clinical. I think that is something we need to improve on and be more effective on when we have the ball.

“From my position I need to be more effective and creative with my forward runs, my dribbles, crosses and shots," he continued.

“We need to contribute more as a team but we have got a good team and a good spirit, hopefully we can begin to pick up results soon.
