U23S:
Greenwood keen to continue form

Rees Greenwood is enjoying the trials and tribulations of Sunderland under-23s' season so far.

The young Black Cats head to Merseyside tomorrow evening in optimistic fashion following two wins in their last three Premier League 2 matches.

A solid draw over Chelsea opened their campaign before Ethan Robson’s last-gasp free-kick saw the the development team earn their first victory of the season at Leicester City.

The young guns then dismantled a previously unbeaten Southampton side in their next fixture as they moved up to third, two points behind leaders Everton.

“We are going to go there and hopefully do what we do every time we play football, try and get three points,” Greenwood said.

“Everton have begun the season well so it’s going to be tough.

“It’s about kicking on and trying to finish as high as we can in the league, we go there with no fear and it’s about playing how we normally play.

“We had a great experience against Rochdale in the cup, we played well against them but in the end their pace, power and strength came through,” he continued.

“It’s about putting that behind us now and putting in a good performance on Tuesday night, hopefully we can come away with the three points.”
