Espíritu de equipo: Brady on the value of team spirit

George Brady believes high standards are vital in order to help integrate the new faces into Sunderland under-23s’ squad.

The young Black Cats are currently in the tail end of a four-day training camp in Spain, where they are looking to fine tune certain areas of their game ahead of their Premier League 2 curtain-raiser against Chelsea in August.

Having endured three intense days of training, the new-look development team have worked up a sweat as they build up a tolerance to fatigue in the Spanish heat.

Speaking to safc.com Brady believes the trip has been a worthwhile experience for the physical benefits and it has also helped build the foundations for a positive team spirit.

“It has been a good trip but I think we still need to focus and work as a team so that we can get the best out of each other because that will help us get results,” he said.

“It’s a young group this year so we know it’s going to be tough but I feel as one of the older figures in the squad it’s my job to try and build what we had last season.”

He continued: “It’s all about development and having played at this level I feel I can help the younger ones settle in and learn from the mistakes I have made in the past.”
