Club Treasures: Kuwait FA trophy

This trophy was presented to Sunderland on the occasion of a friendly match against the Kuwait national B team on February 22 1987.

Managed by Lawrie McMenemy, The Lads took on the trip on a weekend when they were without a game and in soaring temperatures played a goalless draw.

The towers represent the iconic Kuwait City Towers. These actually store water and since their inauguration in 1979 have been the emblem of the state at the tip of the Persian Gulf.

Q. Where is it displayed?

A. Quinn’s Bar.
