This is one of two Championship medals won by Jimmy Hannah to be on display at the Stadium of Light.
A member of ‘The Team of All The Talents’, Hannah won the title with Sunderland in 1892, 1893 and 1895.
A Glaswegian who had won the Scottish Cup with Third Lanark in 1899, ‘Blood’ had first come to Wearside to play for Sunderland’s rivals, Sunderland Albion.
During the 1892-93 season, Jimmy was second top scorer with 19 goals in 28 games, including a four-goal haul against Wolves at the turn of the year.
