THE MANAGERS: Dick Advocaat

Dick Advocaat: 17 March 2015 - 4 October 2015

Dick Advocaat initially arrived on a temporary basis following the departure of Gus Poyet.

The Dutchman became the third Sunderland manager in a row to record a win in the Tyne-Wear derby in their second game in charge as the Black Cats looked to clamber up the table, before back-to-back wins against Southampton and Everton and a goalless draw against Arsenal ensured Premier League survival.

After an emotional goodbye to the club, Advocaat reversed his decision and was reinstated as manager for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

The Dutchman immediately moved in the transfer market bringing in Younes Kaboul, Jeremain Lens and Yann M’Vila to bolster his squad, but after no wins in their opening eight games Advocaat resigned.
