Roy Keane: 28 August 2006 - 4 December 2008

Niall Quinn believed that Sunderland were in need of a world-class manager and Roy Keane was the perfect candidate.

He got off to a spectacular start racking up 26 wins in his first 41 games, sealing the Championship title along the way.

Signings David Connolly and Carlos Edwards were integral to the side’s success in the Championship, while Nyron Nosworthy was converted into a formidable centre-back.

Keane’s side retained top-flight status in 2007-08 before Irishman departed in December 2008.
