Niall Quinn: 25 July 2006 - 28 August 2006

Niall Quinn was already a club legend after an impressive record as a player between 1996 and 2002.

On 3 July 2006, Quinn headed the Drumaville consortium’s takeover of the club, becoming Sunderland chairman in the process.

However, after failing to find a suitable manager to take the club forward at the start of the season, Quinn took hold of the responsibility himself.

After just six games Quinn sacked himself following a miserable run of five straight defeats.

Quinn oversaw the first team for a month prior to the appointment of Roy Keane, signing off with a win after a difficult start to the campaign.

He remained in this position for five years, before standing down and working as director of international development until February 2012.
