Benji Kimpioka kept up his scoring streak in pre-season on Thursday night when he scored a hat-trick at Sunderland RCA.
The Swedish international has taken his tally in pre-season to seven goals, with his latest efforts helping Sunderland under-23s to a 4-2 victory.
Jack Diamond also netted at Meadow Park before the hosts pulled two back in the final five minutes to round off the six-goal encounter.
After last week’s draw at Shildon, which saw Elliott Dickman’s side surrender their two-goal lead, Sunderland under-23s had to grow into this friendly in Ryhope as their breakthrough didn’t come until the 37th minute.
While the hosts created some positive openings from Luke Page and Stephen Callen, Swedish youngster Kimpioka sparked the Black Cats into life and effectively put the game out of RCA’s reach in the blink of an eye.
Turning home a six-minute hat-trick to give the lads a 3-0 lead at the break, Kimpioka dazzled as he took his tally to seven goals in just three matches ahead of the new season.
Diamond then added a fourth after the restart before Reece McEwan turned home from inside the area and then Nathan O’Neill rounded off the scoring from the penalty spot to cap off a fine six-goal friendly.
