What inspired you to support Sunderland AFC?
The beauty of the city and passion of the fans got me to follow the club. The fans come and support the team even in the worst situations and are very loyal. The football is very important to Sunderland as a city and this is something I wanted to support. Football energy in the city was one of the main factors that impressed me.
Have you watched Sunderland ‘til I die on Netflix and what did you think of it?
I watched Sunderland's TV series on Netflix. It's a truly massive series here in Turkey. In particular, it has led to more people getting to know Sunderland in this country. I hope the series will continue as it is watched by so many people across the world.
Have you travelled to any home and away games this season?
No, I have not had the opportunity to visit yet. I am trying to follow all the matches from Turkey to support the team. I hope I can come to the Stadium of Light when we become champions.
What was the first Sunderland match you ever watched and/or attended? Can you remember the score?
Yes, I started following Sunderland in 2016/17 season. The first game I watched was against Manchester City. Unfortunately, we lost the match 2-1 on the road but I have followed the team since then.
Roughly, how many Sunderland fans are there in Turkey now that you know of?
I do not know how many exactly, but in our group, there are potential over 100 fans. If we can get back to the Premier League fast, I think this number will increase even more.
What are your plans for the branch?
The plans for my Branch are in the early stages but there is a big following of English football in Turkey. There are so many Liverpool fans at this time, but I want to convince more people to support Sunderland in my country. Fans watch the games all together in the cafés here and the atmosphere is always really good. My goal is to replicate the great atmosphere for Sunderland AFC fans all across Turkey.
