HEAD OF ACADEMY RECRUITMENT – FULL TIME (40 hours per week)
Sunderland AFC are currently looking to appoint a Head of Academy Recruitment. This position will report to the Academy Manager and will be based at the Academy of Light which holds EPPP Category 1 status.
With experience of working within professional football, the post holder will assist in the development of club policies and procedures for the recruitment of academy players and assist with the recruitment and training of the club’s scouts; ensuring compliance with requirements regarding qualifications, registration and continuous professional development. You will lead the implementation of a comprehensive evaluation programme and develop national, local and international networks to ensure elite talent identification.
The successful applicant will be a confident and articulate individual who will be a team player, manage the club’s academy scouts, liaise with the Academy Manager and other staff on recruitment issues and build relationships with other clubs, associations, agents and other relevant sources.
The Head of Academy Recruitment will ensure all leads and recommendations are followed, games of note are attended and all avenues are explored to highlight potential elite players, and contributing in player assessments and decisions taken on individuals
Other duties will include ensuring Sunderland AFC scouts are continuously of a high standard, assisting in the co-ordination and supervision of trialist visits including the organisation of travel arrangements, accommodation and collection of the trialists. The role requires the completion of scouting administration, including scouts’ reports, feedback, expenses and parent/guardian communication.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of organisational skills and have a pro-active attitude to tasks, and is required to be highly confidential; having the ability to multi-task and prioritise to strict deadlines, ensuring all procedures and working practices are adhered to, assessed and amended as required.
The ideal candidate should have basic computer literacy, be willing to undertake continuous professional development (CDP) as required for the role and/or as organised by the Club, have experience in elite foundation player talent ID; be in possession of a valid FA Safeguarding qualification and hold or be working towards the FA Talent Identification Level 4 qualification. Please note this role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check, and achievement of coaching courses would be advantageous.
