International development coach departs Africa.

Sunderland's international development coach, Gordon Chisholm, has rounded off his two-week trip to Africa with a packed schedule.

The former player was at the academy of partner club Bidvest Wits on Friday to watch the Clever Boys' reserve side run out 4-0 winners in a friendly.

Then it was off to watch the senior side in the evening, with the South African Premier League club securing a 1-0 victory over Ajax Cape Town.

The run of victories continued on Saturday with Chisholm watching the club's U16 and U17 sides both take three points before he jetted back to the UK.

As well as spending time with Bidvest Wits, the Scot has also visited Ghana to link up with another partner club, Asante Kotoko, with a particular focus on youth development.

The trip was part of the club's continuing activities in Africa, which has also seen the Black Cats launch a community academy project in Tanzania as well as signing a formal partnership agreement with the country.

Chisholm commented: "I would like to thank Asante Kotoko, Bidvest Wits and everyone I have met during the trip for their warm welcome and hospitality."
