The Stadium of Light played host to a high-powered UK-South Africa business meeting earlier this week.
The North East Chamber of Commerce hosted a delegation from the South African High Commission, who have been in the region at a trade conference.
The event proved to be a unique opportunity to develop links across a range of sectors, with trade between the UK and South Africa currently valued at around £9.6bn per year.
This figure is expected to double in forthcoming years.
Sunderland AFC were delighted to host the meeting, having cultivated a growing relationship with the continent of Africa.
The Black Cats boast two partner clubs – Bidvest Wits and Asante Kotoko – on the continent and are currently spearheading an exciting academy project in Tanzania in addition to a range of sponsorship deals.
The latest agreement was announced earlier this week with South African Airways becoming a new partner.
