Asante Kotoko crowned champions for 23rd time.
Sunderland’s Ghanaian club partners, Asante Kotoko, have won the country’s league title for a 23rd time.
A 2-1 win at Edubiase on Wednesday ensured the Porcupines remained seven points ahead of second-placed Heart of Lions with only two games to play.
Seidu Bancey and Prince Baffoe found the net for Kotoko, who took the title for the third straight season.
They boast the division’s best attacking record and have won 17 league games in 2013-14, losing on eight occasions and drawing a further three matches.
Their latest win sparked the celebrations, with Kotoko now set to round off the season with games against Hearts of Oak and Aduana Stars.
Meanwhile, Kotoko remain in with a chance of a league and cup double – they will face city rivals King Faisal in the semi-finals of the FA Cup this Sunday.
