Thomas Robson

a Thomas joined Sunderland on a two-year scholarship in summer 2012.

The midfielder came through Darlington’s Centre of Excellence before impressing Sunderland’s coaching staff during trials.

The Stanley-based player made the move north and became a key player in the under-18s, playing 23 times for the young Black Cats and scoring his first goal in a 2-0 away win at West Ham.

He also played one league game for the development squad whilst he scored a hat-trick as a Sunderland XI beat Consett 4-1 in a friendly match in May 2013.

The 2013-14 campaign saw Thomas break into the club’s U21 side, before penning a new deal at the club during the summer of 2014.

Robson's started 19 of 22 Barclays U21 Premier League games during the 2014-15 campaign, and his form in the competition led to him named on the first-team bench on four occasions.
