Lynden Gooch*

* On loan at Doncaster Rovers

Lynden joined the Academy on a two-year scholarship in summer 2012 before turning professional.

The midfielder arrived from California in the United States but holds a British passport.

He starred at high-school level in the US and subsequently came to the attention of Sunderland, who offered the player trials on Wearside.

Lynden impressed during his spell at the Academy of Light and was offered a permanent deal to join the club’s under-18s from the 2012-13 season.

Lynden made over 25 appearances for the club’s U18s during the 2014-15 season, before breaking into the U21s during the latter stages of the season.

During the summer of 2014 the forward played a pivotal role for the USA U20 side in the National Training Center Invitational Tournament win.

Gooch's form for the club's U21s led to interest from other clubs and in February 2015 he joined Gateshead on loan, scoring one goal during his time with the club against Wrexham before returning to development squad action.

Lynden made his first-team debut as a substitute against Exeter City in the Capital One Cup in August 2015.

He joined Doncaster Rovers on loan in January 2016.
