Sunderland Association Football Club Current Players

Liam Agnew

Sunderland fan Liam hails from the city and plays as a midfielder.

He is a player who provides an attacking presence and has been involved in England training camps.

Liam began his scholarship in summer 2011 and started four games for the under-18s in 2011-12, adding a further three appearances off the bench.

Agnew added 24 under-18 appearances last season - more than any other player - and scored four goals whilst he also made four appearances for the under-21 side, scoring once.

Liam linked up with Conference North side Boston United on loan in January 2014, joining then team-mate Liam Marrs.

The midfielder began the 2014-15 campaign with the club’s U21 side, scoring the winning goal from the spot in a 1-0 victory over Leicester City at the Stadium of Light.

And his continued for under the guidance of Robbie Stockdale saw him make his first-team debut against Fulham in the FA Cup, in what was one of four first-team call-ups.
