Sunderland Association Football Club Current Players

Connor Oliver

Connor hails from Walker and attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Leicester and Doncaster, before choosing Sunderland for his footballing education.

He matured into a key role in the under-18s, making 35 appearances over two seasons, and served as vice-captain in 2011-12.

Connor made his development squad debut in 2010 and, after a good run in the side in the 2011-12 season, things were looking promising for the hard-working defender.

However, Connor was restricted to just eight appearances in the 2012-13 campaign, scoring once in a 2-1 win over Tottenham in December before injury ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

He returned to action in 2013-14 and joined Hartlepool United on loan in March 2014, making his professional debut in a 2-1 defeat to Chesterfield.
