Vito swapped Arsenal for Sunderland when he joined the Black Cats in July 2013.

The Italian goalkeeper signed a two-year deal on Wearside having been with Arsenal since 2005.

He initially joined the Gunnners as a 17-year-old from Italian side Atalanta.

He made his debut at the age of 21 and represented the Gunners in the Barclays Premier League and UEFA Champions League, making 15 appearances in all.

The former Italian U21 international also spent time on loan at Barnsley in 2006, making four appearances for the Tykes.

He also had two spells at Hull, playing 11 games in the 2010-11 season plus a further 23 during the following campaign.

Vito played 13 games for Arsenal in 2012-13, including four in the Champions' League, before moving to Sunderland.

The 2013-14 season saw Vito make the number one shirt his own.

The goalkeeper made 36 appearances in total, putting in a number of outstanding performances that led to him being named as the club’s 2013-14 Player of the Season.

Mannone was limited to just 13 appearances in all competitions during the 2014-15 campaign after being displaced by Costel Pantilimon, but the Italian did feature on the final day of the season against Chelsea with new head coach Dick Advocaat taking a close look at the stopper.
