At the end of last season, Jordan travelled to Belgium with Noel Blake’s England U19 side for the elite stages of the UEFA U19 European Championship. Pickford played twice at the tournament taking his tally to 33 youth international caps since making his debut for England U16 in 2009.

In February 2014, Pickford joined League One side Carlisle United on loan and impressed during his time at Brunton Park.
The shot-stopper then joined League One side Bradford City on loan in July 2014 and enjoyed regular first-team football whilst with the Bantams before being recalled in March 2015.
And following his return to Wearside he continued his fine form picking up five consecutive cleans sheets with the club's U21s.
