30 Ignacio Scocco

Ignacio (known as Nacho) completed his move to Sunderland the day before the closure of the January 2014 transfer window.

The forward, who signed a two-and-a-half-year deal, arrived from South American club Internacional for an undisclosed fee.

Born in Hughes, Argentina, Nacho emerged with Newell’s Old Boys in his homeland and won an Apertura championship with the club in 2004.

After moving on to Mexican side Pumas UNAM – scoring 18 league goals in 53 appearances – Nacho headed to Europe to join AEK Athens in 2008.

He scored 28 league goals – including a number of spectacular strikes – for the Greek club, making 88 appearances in all.

A stint in the Middle East with Al-Ain followed, before a successful spell back in Argentina with Newell’s in 2012-13 yielded 24 goals in 33 league appearances.

Nacho, who joined Internacional in June 2013, has been capped once by his country, marking his debut with two goals against Brazil in November 2012.
