Duncan Watmore joined Sunderland’s development squad in the summer of 2013 from Conference North side Altrincham.
Fighting off interest from several other clubs, the Black Cats secured the signature of the former Manchester United youth player.
The striker joined Altrincham aged 15 and went on to make 29 appearances, scoring 14 goals, during the 2012-13 season.
Watmore earned the Robins' player of the year award and goal of the season in the process of helping his side to the first round of the FA Cup with Budweiser.
Duncan, whose father Ian is a former chief executive of the Football Association, is also studying for a degree in finance and economics.
He made his senior debut as a second-half substitute during the 3-1 win over Carlisle United in January 2014.
On 31st January 2014 Watmore joined SPL side Hibernian on loan, scoring his first goal in a 3-1 defeat to Partick Thistle.
