John was recently appointed as the club's Academy Sports Scientist in June 2011 after performing a similar role for four years with Heart of Midlothian and Heriot Watt University in Scotland.

He was appointed Hearts' Academy Sports Scientist in 2007 to work with the club's 11-17 players.

This role was combined with working alongside athletes selected for Heriot Watt University's Scholarship and Bursar programme across a variety of sports including golf, archery and snowboarding.

He performed this joint role for three years before being appointed Hearts' full-time under-19 sports scientist in 2010, working with the full-time professional youth players.

As SAFC's Academy Sports Scientist he is responsible for the athletic development of the club's academy players aged from 9-18, focusing on sound movement patterns with younger age groups to football-specific conditioning with the full-time under-18 squad.

He is also tasked with informing our young players on appropriate match preparation and recovery with regards to hydration and nutrition.

John has a BSc in Physiology and Sport Science from the University of Glasgow. He is also BASES and ISAK level 1 accredited.
