Titus Bramble signed a three-year contract with Sunderland in July 2010, signing from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The move saw the centre-half reunited with former boss Steve Bruce, whom Bramble credits with his transformation into a top-class defender.
And the no-nonsense competitor was one of Sunderland's key men in 2010-11, although he was disappointed to be restricted to just 24 appearances through injury.
Bramble shot to prominence while in his teens as an integral part of the successful Ipswich side which took the Premier League by storm in the early 2000's, qualifying for the UEFA Cup.
After 62 appearances for the Tractor Boys, Bramble moved to Newcastle United, signing for £6m in summer 2002.
Bramble represented Newcastle in the Champions' League and figured on 157 occasions for the club before joining Wigan on a free transfer in June 2007.
Under Steve Bruce, Bramble became a key player for the Latics and was named team captain. He won the Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year awards in 2008-09.
