Sunderland AFC grant licenses to companies wishing to produce merchandise bearing the Club's trademarks - the Club Crest, Black Cat logo, etc. The licensee pays for the right to use the Club's trademarks in advance of producing any products.
Once manufactured, the products are then sold nationally and internationally through various retail outlets and websites, independent of the Club. Many of these items can also be found on sale within Sunderland AFC Official Club Stores.
By licensing the Club brand to established licensees, we are able to increase our retail footprint, which will help to expand the Club's appeal onto a more national and international base.
