Distance from the Stadium of Light: 148.5 miles

Directions by Road:
Leave Sunderland by the A690 and join the A1(M) at Carrville. Stay on the A1 until the start of the M1, south of Wetherby. Follow the M1 as far Junction 42 then join the M62 (signed Manchester).

At Junction 18 the M62 becomes the M60, carry on the M60 westbound (anti-clockwise) and leave at Junction 12. Pick up the M602 (signed Salford/Manchester), leaving the motorway at its end (Junction 3). Follow signs for Salford Quays and Trafford Park and at the roundabout turn right into Trafford Road (the A5063).

When on the bridge over the Ship Canal keep in the right hand lane and turn right at the next set of lights following the road round into Trafford Wharf Road. Take a left at the next lights onto Waters Reach. The ground is ahead on Sir Matt Busby Way (closed to traffic on matchdays).

There are numerous official car parks around the stadium, indicated by brown information road signs. For more detailed road directions and maps click here.

By Train:
Getting to Manchester Piccadilly from the Northeast involves changing at York. Alternatively there is a direct service from Newcastle to Manchester Airport which stops at Piccadilly. The station is about two miles from Old Trafford. The easiest way to the ground is to take the Metrolink tram to Old Trafford. Walk past the Cricket Ground up Warwick Road to reach the ground.
