Women's Head Coach: Reay on Lewes test

Mel Reay previewed Sunday’s game against Lewes on Sunday in the Barclays Women’s Championship.

The Sunderland Head Coach discussed Sunday’s opponents as well as preparations for the game.

“They’ve [Lewes] had a steady start to the campaign,” Reay said.

“It’s always a tough game no matter who you play in this league.

“We’ve worked really hard during the international break to try and get some consistency in what we want to try and achieve on Sunday and things have gone well.”

The Lasses are back at Eppleton after two games on the road and the international break and are relishing the thought of being back on home soil.

“Ticket sales have been good during the week, and we always look forward to playing in front of our home fans.

“We hope we can reward them with three points because the team are desperate to get back to winning ways and they’re determined to put in a good performance on Sunday.

The team are doing a collection for Sunderland Foodbank on the day of the game, with the Lasses boss highlighting the importance of these initiatives.

“I think it’s really important that we help the community, and we want to do our bit to help.

“We want to make sure no one in our local community has to go hungry, and any donations can make a big difference.”
