Nosworthy on Dyche: Nyron praises former boss

Nyron Nosworthy has provided an insight into Burnley’s philosophy ahead of Saturday’s game at the Stadium of Light, explaining why Sean Dyche is the mastermind behind the Clarets’ recent success.

The Burnley boss has overseen two promotions during his lengthy spell in Lancashire, with Nosworthy playing under the 45-year-old during a loan spell at Watford.

After bouncing back into the Premier League last season the Clarets have impressed, with their solid home form seeing them move to within two points of the top half with ten games remaining.

But although they’ve have impressed at fortress Turf Moor, they’re yet to win a PL game on the road during picking up just two points away from home.

Nevertheless, Nosworthy believes they’ll pose a stern test on Wearside, but the former Black Cat urged the Lads to exploit the Clarets’ away-day hoodoo and begin their charge up the table.

“I’m not surprised by Burnley’s success this season – particularly at home – because they’re so organised and Sean Dyche demands a lot from his players, but in the right way.

“He gets everyone together and pushes them to do the right things; I played under him in Watford when I went there on loan and I was pleased with what he emphasised on the players because it was refreshing.”

He continued: “He’s a bit like an army squaddie because he likes everything to be well-drilled, but it just comes down to the professionalism within him and everyone took it on board.

“Because of that we got the results we wanted, we were tough to beat and we played some good football, and Burnley play in a similar way so they’ll be hard to beat this weekend.

“That said, their away form is something Sunderland can capitalise on and you can get at them, but they don’t lose games by big margins so it’s going to be a close game.

“They’re a real team and there’s no super standout individuals, but together they’re strong so Sunderland need to replicate those qualities and really pull together to grind out the win.

“It all starts from the back so the Black Cats will need to be resilient and focussed throughout.”
