On Sunday Jermain Defoe announced his England return by doing what he does best - finding the net!
The Sunderland striker scored the opening goal at Wembley Stadium as the Three Lions continue their road to Russia against Lithuania.
And social media was deservedly loving Defoe before, during and after the game.
This little hero was an England mascot today. 😀

It had to be didn't it? Sterling beats full-back on outside, pulls ball back, and Defoe slots first-time side-foot into corner #England 1-0

Jermain Defoe the first #safc goal scorer for England since Darren Bent in 2010. The great Len Shackleton the last before that in 1956.

Jermain Defoe joins Martin Peters on 20 #eng goals. One more and he equals Steven Gerrard, Kevin Keegan and Mick Channon.
