Team news: Moyes coy on changes

David Moyes remained coy over his team selection when asked if changes would be made for Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup tie against Burnley.

Sunderland’s ranks remain depleted due to a number of injury problems, with the likes of Jordan Pickford, Lee Cattermole, Jan Kirchhoff, Paddy McNair and Duncan Watmore unavailable.

And Black Cats, who didn’t make a change in Saturday’s defeat to Stoke City, are also without Lamine Kone, Didier Ndong and Wahbi Khazri due to their involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.

A host of youngsters have been named on the bench in recent weeks and although Moyes is monitoring their progress closely, it’s unclear if they will play a part at Turf Moor.

“I’ve been here long enough so I’ve seen them play regularly and I have an idea about them.

“Some of them are very young and hopefully they develop into really good players.”

He continued: “At the moment we don’t have an awful lot of resources.

“Our numbers are down but we will get players back from injury and we will get players back from the Africa Cup of Nations, but in this period we are short.

“We’ve not decided on what team we’ve got or what we will go with, so we will make that decision over the coming days.”
