Team news: Anichebe and Pienaar ruled out

Victor Anichebe and Steven Pienaar will not be fit to face Stoke City on Saturday.

The duo are yet to feature in 2017 with Anichebe out of action since defeat at Burnley on New Year's Eve, with Pienaar also absent since the Clarets clash.

There was, however, a positive update on the fitness of Billy Jones who could return against the Potters.

And speaking at his pre-match press conference, David Moyes revealed that Jordan Pickford could return sooner than initially expected.

“Jordan will hopefully be back sooner than we originally thought, but obviously we have to go by what the doctors and the surgeons say as well.

“He didn’t have surgery which is good and he’s been saying to me he feels good, so hopefully it’ll maybe be another three to four weeks.

“We’ve got one or two making a bit of progress,” continued Moyes.

“With a bit of luck we might have Billy Jones back amongst it but I’m not expecting anymore.

“Steven Pienaar is not available.

“Victor Anichebe isn’t ready.”
