Larsson: Swede throws gauntlet down

Seb Larsson has vowed to keep fighting as Sunderland look to claw their way up the Premier League.

Last weekend saw David Moyes’ side suffer a 2-0 defeat at the Hawthorns as their barren run without a win at the Hawthorns stretched to eight matches.

With a host of injuries limiting the options Moyes has to choose from, the arrival of Joleon Lescott adds some reinforcements across the backline.

But as results continue to go against the Black Cats, Larsson, 31, has held his hands up and admitted improvements must be made quickly with Tottenham Hotspurs’ impending trip to the Stadium of Light next week.

“We are obviously in a very bad patch at the moment,” he said. “We aren’t picking up points and it needs to turn around very quickly.

“Unfortunately, we seem to be giving games away and up until the point when they scored their first there wasn’t much in the game.

“For some reason we find ourselves trailing a couple of goals very quickly at the moment in most games and that’s something we need to rectify,” he continued.

“It’s the only thing you can do because we need to keep fighting, working and doing everything we can to possibly turn things around.

“It’s an extremely disappointing dressing room as it should be at the moment but the only thing we can do is keep working.”
