AFCON Update: Khazri's key role

Wahbi Khazri was in fine form for Tunisia as they defeated Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Sunderland forward returned to the starting XI on Thursday evening following an ankle injury, and he made an immediate impact.

Tunisia, who suffered a 2-0 defeat in their opening game, were vastly improved in the final third and they made the breakthrough five minutes after the restart, as Algeria’s Aissa Mandi directed Youssef Msakni’s cross into his own net.

15 minutes later Khazri took centre stage, taking advantage of a defensive lapse before winning a penalty which was coolly converted by Naim Sliti.

Algeria pulled a goal back late on when Sofiane Hanni struck, but it wasn’t enough and Tunisia’s win took them to second in Group B.

Elsewhere, Lamine Kone will be hoping to make his first appearance at the tournament when Ivory Coast take on Congo DR on Friday (KO 4pm).

The centre back, who picked up an injury on his last outing for Sunderland, will be a key player for the favourites who were held to a 0-0 draw against Togo in their opening game.

Dafabet price Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha at 12/5 (was 15/8) to score anytime with odds of 15/4 (was 3/1) available for Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia to open the scoring.

Ivory Coast are the clear favourites for victory and Dafabet are offering odds of 13/2 (was 5/1) for them to win 2-0.
