Palace win scoops accolade

Last weekend’s win over Crystal Palace has earned Sunderland the LG Performance of the Week accolade.

David Moyes’ side produced a performance for the ages as Crystal Palace were put to the sword at Selhurst Park.

With nine minutes played the beast was back as Lamine Kone volleyed home the follow-up after soaring above the Eagles defence, with Didier Ndong’s sublime long-range effort doubling the advantage three minutes before the break.

Where there are goals, there is often Jermain Defoe, and the striker refused to be patient with a delightful double ramming home Sunderland’s advantage to ensure a 4-0 lead at the break.

The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Sunderland for their 4-0 victory against Crystal Palace on Saturday 4th February 2017.

Sunderland manager David Moyes received a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and a LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result.
